Location. Where to build is where we start.
You can build your dream house, but you can’t later on change the location. Choosing the best location to fit your lifestyle is essential.
Price: Labor, building materials, and the cost of the land are the basic ingredients which determine the cost of your new home.
Some materials are standard, like wall studs and floor joists, but some materials are far from standard, and the difference can be impressive.
Style. One story or more? A spacious lawn, or one maintained by others? A dream kitchen alone, or shall we add an outdoor kitchen? A multi-vehicle garage or a detached man cave? Making these decisions is such a fulfilling process and it naturally leads us to your choice of a builder.
A Custom Builder will make modifications in the floor plan for you. Moving walls, adding rooms, and changing the street view are ways the custom builder will allow you the freedom to build what you want. If you are comfortable with a slightly longer build time and a price that is generally a little more, then a custom builder might be right for you. Don't walk into a builder's office alone. Bring your realtor with you the first time. Show the builder that you have an agent representing you, who will protect you and help you get what you want.
A Production Builder can be the best way to go if their plans meet your needs. Often, you can add extras and upgrades, but a change in the floor plan is usually not available. The street view is also normally not adaptable. Production builders offer a package deal. The construction
times are typically shorter, and the price is generally less than a custom builder.
